Bryan Harper is from Columbus, Ohio. He came to Japan as a firefighter in the United States Air Force, stationed at Yokota Air Base, where he met his wife and later came back and put down roots.

When his Air Force days ended, instead of continuing to drive a rescue truck, he threw himself into teaching — workshops, elementary ALT work, international schools, private lessons — trying every setting he could find to understand why so many students study English for years and still can't hold a conversation. That question became an obsession, and eventually a school.

Bryan's English School opened in Tomisato, Chiba with one principle: talk. No textbooks. Small groups. Real conversation from the first lesson. When that wasn't enough, he built the Booha Adventure — a complete English learning platform coded from scratch, with original game worlds, illustrated characters, and weekly rotating content. Over 50,000 lines of vanilla JavaScript. Built alone.

Teaching is one of many things Bryan makes. He builds furniture, runs workshops, illustrates characters, and designs card games. The through-line is the same everywhere: make the thing you want to exist. Connect it to people who want to make things too.

Karasuki is where forgotten things go. It's the world he built for his students, his characters, and the novel he's writing. Make of that what you will.
